Allie & Grey: Broken (NSFW!)

This one is a bit heavy but equally, it is an important story that I wanted to share. Stay tuned at the end of the post for my thoughts :)

When I drew this one *checks calendar* LAST JUNE (what is time, even????), it took a whole lot out of me. There was... a lot of personal trauma that went into this comic. Many of us on the asexual spectrum have experienced guilt-tripping by allosexual partners in our lifetimes. It is such a common occurrence, and one I had experience with, that I really wanted to showcase it for Allie & Grey. Equally important, I wanted to show how those past experiences can have an impact on current relationships.

Like myself, Grey has been through some shit. Some not so great, some "eh", and some good. Graysexuality is complicated, as seen above, and can lead to a lot of confusion and feelings of brokenness. It was, and still is, hard for me to overcome the anxiety that maybe it's just me that's the problem. That maybe my body, my brain, are broken.

I hope one day I'll be free from that anxiety. In the meantime, I'll just keep on trusting my partners and remembering that my boundaries are valid and important.
